Verizon Finally Unveils ''Share Everything'' Shared Data Plan

Verizon Wireless has become the first U.S. carrier to create a shared data plan, in which multiple devices can draw from a pool of data. Its Share Everything plan will offer users a range of options.

Verizon WirelessNow that many people have a smartphone and a tablet, they have been asking carriers for a single plan that provides data service for both. This is Verizon's answer.

Share Everything includes unlimited voice and texting, and starts at $50 a month for 1GB of data transfers. Paying $60 gets 2GB, $70 gets 4GB, $80 gets 6GB, $90 gets 8GB, and $100 a month gets 10GB data transfers.

Customers can include as many as 10 devices, but there's a fee for each one: $40 per smartphone, $10 per tablet, $20 per mobile hotspot, and $30 for featurephones.

A typical user might have a smartphone and a tablet, and want 2GB of data transfers. This would cost $110 a month, and would get the subscriber unlimited voice minutes, unlimited text messages, and a pool of 2GB of data to pull from on either of their devices. Mobile hotspot service on the smartphone is also included.

"When developing these plans, we first asked customers what they wanted in a wireless service plan. We also looked at the technology and how customers were using it to manage their lives. And last, we took into consideration the evolution of the technology and how customers would use wireless in the future," said Tami Erwin, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. "Share Everything Plans are the outcome of that research."

Verizon will add this shared data plan to its offerings on June 28. There won't be a fee or contract extension to move to the new Share Everything Plans. For more information, go to www.verizonwireless.com/ShareEverything.
